Have you ever had one of those moments where from the very first second you met someone you felt like you have know them all of your lives? One of those moments happened the first time I met Amanda and Mikael. Amazingly gracious, kind, incredibly humble and oh ya, what a gorgeous couple they are.
The wedding and reception atChateau Elan Winery and Resort could not have been more beautiful. Cherie Miller was as always by the couples side taking care of any and all of the needs during their wedding day. Clark Hilton the videographer for the event of Rusticus Wedding Films was so much fun to work with.

Amanda and Mikael’s story:
Cornell University – Ujamaa Residential College
This story actually began a very long time before I even met Mikael. For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of and prayed for my “Perfect Man”…”Mr. Right” just wasn’t good enough for me. As many of you already know, I’ve been planning for my wedding and future family for over a decade now. I knew how long I wanted to date my boyfriend before he became my fiance, how long I would be engaged, how many children I wanted to have, what their names would be, where they would attend college, and the list continues. All I needed to do was find the man that God had already destined for me; with whom I would share my hopes and dreams.
The day that I met Mikael is one that I will never forget. I still remember exactly what he was wearing…though he would beg to differ. It was August of 2007 and I had just moved into my dorm room when a group of my friends decided to head over to Ujamaa Residential College. After spending several hours hanging out, actually wasting time, Mikael walked into my friend’s room and introduced himself. Right away I responded and said “Oh My Gosh! That’s my turtle’s name!!”. I couldn’t have been more embarrassed as he looked at me as if I were crazy.
I called my mom later that day and told her that I met the “Man of my dreams”. I told her that he was my future husband. It was love at first sight!! Something about him immediately seemed familiar to me. Back then I didn’t quite understand what I was feeling. But now I know that I felt that way because seeing him for the first time was like looking into my own soul…my own heart…the Love of My Life.
And the rest is HIStory:
Having finished my freshman year at Cornell – now a sophomore – I thought it best to pay it forward and take the members of the new freshmen class under my tutelage. The two gentlemen in the dorm room next to me were freshman and I decided to introduce myself and open the lines of communication. When I entered their room there was a small congregation of freshmen. Unbeknownst to me at the time, my wife was in that room. Now I will spare the embarrassing details about our first encounter, but, suffice it to say I thought Amanda was “special”.
All jokes aside, God truly is the great I AM! With the benefit of hindsight, it is so amazing to look back at the pieces God prepared for you in the puzzle of life. I am forever thankful to have been blessed to find the biggest piece of my puzzle and look forward to completing the rest of OUR puzzle together.
